Over 170 Veterans Honored At Annual Breakfast In Arlington Heights
Held the weekend before Veterans Day, the event is attended by area residents that served their country in a number of wars and conflicts.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — In a tradition that dates back 14 years, local residents gathered at Luther Village for the annual "Veterans Breakfast and Celebration," held earlier this month on the weekend before Veterans Day.
Greg Padovani, chairman of the Veterans Memorial Committee of Arlington Heights, said 170 veterans were in attendance on Nov. 8.
Pastor Fred Jacobi led the opening prayer, followed by performances of the national anthem and armed forces songs by Arlingtones Barbershop Chorus.

As part of a welcome to veterans, Padovani, Arlington Heights Mayor Jim Tinaglia and Rick Remington, of Luther Village, spoke. Breakfast was served soon thereafter.
Terry Prince, director of Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, was the featured speaker.

The 250th birthday of the United States Marines Corps was recognized by Mike Ryan, commandant of the NW Suburban Corps League, Det 80. The program concluded with a closing prayer by Jacobi.
The Portrait of a Soldier Memorial was on display, featuring the portraits of 330 Illinois service people killed in action from 9/11 to present. The display was coordinated by Linda Kozma.
