No Evidence Tara Reid Was Drugged At Rosemont Hotel Bar, Police Say: Police

ROSEMONT, IL — An investigation into a claim by actress Tara Reid that she was drugged at a local hotel bar has turned up no video evidence that it ever happened, according to the Rosemont Police Department. The 50-year-old "American Pie" star filed a police report last month regarding the alleged incident at the DoubleTree Chicago O'Hare Airport — Rosemont.

Reid told TMZ she had checked into her room late Nov. 22, ordered a drink at the hotel bar, went outside to smoke and returned to find her drink covered with a napkin. She drank from the glass and was taken to a hospital, according to TMZ.

Rosemont police tell Patch the investigation into the incident is still active and open, and multiple people have been interviewed. In reviewing video surveillance from when Reid was at the hotel bar, detectives said there is no evidence of anyone tampering with her drink or adding something to it.

"We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar, which is standard practice for bartenders to do," Rosemont police said in a news release shared with Patch.

Police received a call for a sick person, and paramedics responded to the hotel after 12:30 a.m. Nov. 23, but law enforcement did not take a report of anyone being drugged. Video footage released by TMZ shows Reid slurring her words and being taken from the hotel in a gurney. The outlet released audio from Reid's 911 call to police on Thursday.

Police are currently waiting for hospital records, but are not releasing what specific chemical testing has been conducted.

"We are working with Tara Reid to receive those records, which she has also not received," police said. "Pending those results or further information coming forward, our detectives will follow up on those leads accordingly."

Police said at this time, they believe no criminal act was committed, and they are not currently investigating anyone with regard to Reid's claims.

"While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended," Rosemont police said. "If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities."

Reid, known for her roles in "Van Wilder," "The Big Lebowski," as well as the "Sharknado" franchise, was in Rosemont for the Chicago Sports Spectacular, a celebrity signing event that took place on Nov. 23 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
