Attempted Murder Suspect Mistakenly Released From Hospital: Schaumburg Police
Dion Rodgers, 23, is wanted for attempted murder and police said a local hospital released him without first notifying the police.
SCHAUMBURG, IL — Schaumburg Police are actively searching for a man who was arrested in connection with a shooting earlier this month after he was released from a local medical facility without police being notified, the department said on Friday.
Dion T. Rodgers, 23, was arrested as a suspect in a Dec. 13 shooting in the 1200 block of East Higgins Road, police said. No one was injured in the shooting, which took place at 2:45 a.m. Police said that the intended victim of the shooting is known to Rodgers and that the incident was not being classified as random.
Rodgers sought medical care for a condition unrelated to the incident and was taken to a local medical facility for treatment. In a news release, Schaumburg Police said that they completed paperwork that would allow them to be notified when the facility was ready to release Rodgers from hospital care.

But, police said when they showed up to pick Rodgers up, he was nowhere to be found and was improperly released by the facility. Police said in a news release that the medical facility was not able to provide police with information about Rodgers’ release.
Rodgers now has a warrant out for his arrest, police said, after the man was charged with attempted first-degree murder.
