10 Aurora Homes Win Mayor's Award For Historic Preservation

The city's Planning and Zoning Division worked with the Aurora Preservation Commission to review applications and determine winners.

AURORA, IL — In a world of gray-washing and cookie-cutter homes, some homeowners are working hard to preserve the old-world nature of their residences.

At Tuesday night's City Council meeting, the owners of 10 Aurora properties were awarded for just this when Mayor John Laesch bestowed upon them the Mayor's Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.

The city's Planning and Zoning Division received several applications for the awards and worked with the Aurora Preservation Commission to determine the winners.

"Thank you to staff for doing an excellent job in reviewing the applications and recognizing the people who've invested in their properties," Mayor Laesch said in a statement. "We appreciate the community's efforts to beautify the neighborhood."
