5 Aurora Shops Didn't Card Underage Buyers In Undercover Sting: Aurora Police
More than half of the businesses checked failed to card undercover, underage cadets, police said.
AURORA, IL — More than half of the businesses visited in Aurora police's latest undercover alcohol and tobacco sting failed to card underage buyers, officials said Tuesday.
Aurora Police Department cadets, all under the age of 21, were tasked to go undercover into nine businesses Dec. 8 to see if they complied with city ordinances and carded patrons.

Employees at the following shops failed to card the cadets, police said.
- BP, 2200 W. Galena Blvd. (Alcohol)
- Shell, 320 W. Galena Blvd. (Alcohol)
- Mayas World, 261 E. Indian Trail Road (Vape)
- Green Smoke Vape and Tobacco, 444 N. Eola Road (Vape)
- BP, 2595 Ogden Ave. (Nicotine)
After each unlawful sale was completed, Special Operations Group (SOG) investigators entered the store and issued the clerk a notice to appear for the unlawful sale of an alcoholic or tobacco product to a person under the age of 21.

These businesses complied:
- One Puff Tobacco and Vape, 1261 N. Lake St. (Vape)
- Dragon Smoke and Vape, 1048 N. Farnsworth Ave. (Vape)
- La Villita Liquors, 1415 E. New York St. (Alcohol)
- Casey's, 330 N. Eola Road (Alcohol)
"These checks play a key role in helping ensure businesses are doing their part to prevent underage access to alcohol and tobacco," SOG Lt. Chris McWilliams said in a statement. "We appreciate those who followed the law and will continue to address violations when they occur."
