AURORA, IL — Forty-seven seniors from West Aurora High School have been named AP Scholars.

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission, the state's access and financial aid agency, highlights exceptional students annually. This year, more than 16,500 people from 684 high schools joined the honorees who have been recognized since the title was first introduced in 1958.

To be designated, students must perform in the top one-half of their high school class by the end of the sixth semester and score at or above the 95th percentile on the ACT or SAT.

"They have worked incredibly hard to set goals, exhibit resilience, and commit themselves to academic excellence. In addition to their work in the classroom, these students are athletes, musicians, artists, thespians, community volunteers, and leaders.
