Aurora, Naperville, Oswego Curfew Reminders

Aurora police put out a curfew ordinance reminder Wednesday.

AURORA, IL — Wednesday, Aurora police shared a reminder on their Facebook page about curfews. For ages 15 and under, Aurora's curfew for Saturday and Sunday is 10 p.m. Sixteen and 17-year-olds can stay out Sunday thru Thursday until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 'til midnight. If someone is caught violating the curfew, they'll be arrested, photographed and fingerprinted, police said.

The parent or guardian will be called so they can pick them up. There's a chance the parent also might have to appear in local court and/or have charges against them. The ordinance makes exceptions for workers, school activities and church events.

Oswego's curfew laws are similar. There, it's illegal for anyone under 18 to be in a public place (without a parent, legal guardian, or other companion at least 18 years old approved by a parent or guardian) after midnight Saturday and Sunday, and after 11 p.m. Sunday thru Thursday.

In nearby Naperville, it is unlawful for anyone under 17 to be in a public place after 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, or after midnight Friday and Saturday, unless accompanied by a parent or other adult, 18 or older, approved by the parent. A 16-year-old's driver's license is not valid if the driver is in violation of the curfew hours. It is also unlawful for parents or other adults to knowingly permit kids in their custody to violate curfew.

We recommend double checking the specifics from each of the ordinances before teens head out on their own.
