Aurora's Wesley United Methodist Church Welcomes New Pastor
Rev. Tammy Scott was installed as the church's new pastor and replaces the Rev. John Bell, who left Wesley for a church in Kentucky.

AURORA, IL — Wesley United Methodist Church welcomed a new pastor over the weekend as the Rev. Tammy Scott was installed as the new minister of the Aurora congregation on Sunday.
Scott, a Lockport native, is the former lead pastor at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and succeeds Rev. John Bell, who has accepted a church in Louisville, Ky., after 10 years of serving at Wesley United Methodist.
"Today we welcome Tammy, who has been appointed to serve as our pastor,” Kathy Breazeale, the Wesley governing board chairperson said at a welcoming ceremony on Sunday. “We believe that she is well qualified and has been prayerfully appointed by our Bishop Dan Schwerin."

Scott said she is looking forward to a series of "listening" gatherings in congregants' homes during August and September.
Scott has served Methodist churches in Sugar Grove, Joliet, Wilmette, Bolingbrook, Minooka, and Naperville. She chairs the UMC Northern Illinois Conference Council on Finance and Administration.

Her ministry areas of focus have included children, youth, families, administration, Bible studies, and confirmation.
Rev. Scott holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston. She was ordained a Methodist elder in 2021.
Rev. Scott's family includes identical twin girls, Hannah and Haylee.
