Car Drove Into Retention Pond On Butterfield Road, Police Say

No injuries were reported Tuesday evening after a vehicle ended up in the pond on Butterfield Road and DuPage Parkway, officials said.

AURORA, IL — No injuries were reported after a car ended up in a retention pond on the corner of Butterfield Road and DuPage Parkway Tuesday evening, police told Patch.

Authorities asked drivers to avoid the area at around 4 p.m. By 4:20 p.m., divers were on the scene to secure cables to the vehicle and pull it out of the water.

According to a social media statement, everyone was able to get out of the vehicle safely. Tow trucks were on their way to the pond at around 4:30 p.m.

A spokesman for Aurora police did not immediately respond to questions on what caused the car to veer into the pond.
