Description Of Truck From Deadly Hit-And-Run Released: Police

AURORA, IL — The driver of a pickup truck that hit and killed a man early Sunday morning is still unidentified, Aurora police announced.

Police responded to a call of a pedestrian hit-and-run at around 1 a.m. in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue. When they arrived on scene, officers found a man in the street in "extremely critical condition," according to a news release.

The man was later identified as 59-year-old Michael Brooks. He was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the hospital.

Aurora's Critical Incident Intelligence Center provided video from city cameras of the vehicle fleeing from the scene.

Officers said witnesses told them the suspected vehicle was a two-toned pickup truck with a Mexican flag wrapped on the front and a second Mexican flag on the tailgate. The truck would have been damaged on its front passenger side in the incident. Witnesses also said it could be missing a piece of its front grill.
