KANE COUNTY, IL — Lent has officially begun, and with it comes the tradition of Friday fish fries.

There are several groups and businesses throughout the Fox Valley region serving up delicious fried fish every Friday during the Lenten season. Whether you're an observing Christian or just a local foodie looking for a good seafood dinner, Patch has compiled a list of nearby events.

Bulldog Ale House, 451 N. Commons Drive, Aurora

  • Taking place every Friday.
  • Deals include buy one fish fry, get one half off. Customers must show this offer to redeem the deal.
  • The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays.

Colonial Cafe, 1625 E. Main St., St. Charles

  • A large or small fish fry features Sam Adams beer-battered cod served with french fries and apple coleslaw.
  • The special is available each Friday.
  • The restaurant is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

The Evergreen Pub & Grill, 1400 W. Main St., St. Charles

  • Menu items include cod, perch, walleye and jumbo shrimp, all with the option of all-you-can-eat. Several sides are available, including chips, cajun or waffle fries, veggies, soup, onion rings, cheese curds and coleslaw. Prices vary from $14 to $29.
  • Catch-of-the-day fish, in partnership with E&S Fish Company, available at market price.

Elgin Turners, 112 Villa St.

  • Carry-out fish fry will be available from 5-8 p.m. every Friday of Lent. Dine-in is also available.
  • Menu includes fried or baked haddock, fried perch, fried catfish, fried walleye, 10-piece fried shrimp, and a weekly special. Each meal is served with coleslaw, a roll and a choice of potato.
  • Dine-in orders can be placed online, and carry-out orders can be placed by calling 847-697-4431. Once you've arrived, call again and staff will bring the meal out to your car.

Gilberts Eagle Club, 325 Raymond St.

  • Fish fry occurs from 5-8 p.m. every Friday during Lent.
  • Menu includes beer-battered fried haddock, baked cod, baked or beer-battered walleye, salmon and shrimp. Each meal comes with coleslaw, a roll and choice of baked potato, shoestring fries or baked garlic wedges.
