Man, 22, Fatally Shot In Aurora Apartment Was 'Known For His Kind Heart': GoFundMe

The 22-year-old was fatally shot June 29 in an Aurora apartment. An acquaintance of his is accused of his murder, police said.

AURORA, IL — A GoFundMe campaign was created Wednesday to help ease the financial burden of the family of the man who was killed June 29 in an apartment shooting.

Tirome Kirksey, Jr. was 22 years old when he was fatally shot in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue, Patch reported. He "touched the lives of everyone around him," according to the organizer of the fundraiser.

"He was known for his kind heart and his willingness to help anyone in need," reads the GoFundMe, whose goal is to raise $5,000 to cover funeral expenses. "Tirome would go out of his way to support others, always putting friends, family, and even strangers before himself. His generosity and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him."

The 44-year-old Nathanael Carire-Aroch, an acquaintance of Kirksey's, was charged in connection with his murder, Aurora police said. A preliminary investigation indicated the shooting happened after the two acquaintances got into a dispute, Patch reported.

Carire-Arochis being held at the Kane County jail, records show. He is facing charges of first-degree murder, armed violence, and unlawful use or possession of a weapon by a felon or person in custody at a department of corrections facility.

"[Kirksey's] passing has left his family and friends devastated," the campaign reads. "...The sudden loss has placed a significant financial burden on his loved ones, and we want to ensure that Tirome receives the respectful farewell he deserves," the GoFundMe reads. "All funds will be managed by his mother, Ta’Borcia Bloomfield, who is coordinating the arrangements and supporting the family during this difficult time."
