Man Shot In Armed Robbery In Aurora Township: Sheriff

Three people approached a man driving in Aurora Township and demanded money and a cell phone before shooting him in the leg, officials said.

AURORA, IL — A man was shot in the leg in an armed robbery Monday evening in Aurora Township, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The man was driving a red Mitsubishi Outlander around 6:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Konen Avenue when three people approached the car and demanded that the driver, a 31-year-old Aurora resident, give them money and a cell phone, officials said.

During the robbery, one person fired a weapon, injuring the man's right leg, deputies said. The robbers then fled the scene, running northbound from the 800 block of Konen Avenue. Deputies deployed K9s and a drone to attempt to locate the offenders and any evidence.

Deputies detained two people who remained at the scene, one who was released without charges and the other who was held pending further investigation and questioning, officials said Tuesday afternoon.

Aurora Fire Department paramedics, who, along with Aurora police, responded to assist, brought the victim to Rush Copley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and the man was later released by medical staff, according to a news release.

The armed robbery remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has related information to call 630-444-1103.
