AURORA, IL — Aurora City Council unanimously voted Tuesday night to approve Will White for the vacant alderman-at-large role.

White succeeds former Alderman-at-large John Laesch, who was elected the city's 60th mayor in the April 1 consolidated election. He will serve the remaining two years left in the term.

The city received more than 130 applications from interested community members. The mayor's office interviewed 14 candidates before narrowing the selection down to four finalists. City Council unanimously selected White after a closed session meeting in which the finalists were interviewed, officials said.
