Pedestrian Fatally Struck While Walking Along Road Fog Line: Kane County Sheriff

The man, 42, was walking in the roadway along the fog line when he was hit by a work van, detectives said.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man died Monday morning after he was hit by a car while walking near the intersection of Farnsworth Avenue and Summit Avenue in Aurora Township, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The pedestrian, identified as Samson Isom, was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center after the 4:20 a.m. crash and later pronounced dead. He was 42.

The Kane County sheriff's preliminary investigation determined that a white 2017 GMC work van was driving southbound on Farnsworth Avenue, nearing Summit Avenue, when it struck Isom, who was walking southbound in the roadway along the fog line.

The GMC driver, a 36-year-old man from Aurora, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Aurora Police Department and Aurora Township Fire Department assisted the Kane County Sheriff's Office on the scene. The Kane County Drone Team also responded to help with the investigation.

No citations have been issued as of Monday afternoon. Officials said it's currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office continues investigating the crash. Detectives are asking anyone with information related to the crash to call 630-444-1103.
