Aurora Looks To Fill John Laesch's Alderman-At-Large Seat
With John Laesch begin elected mayor of Aurora, the city has begun the process of filling his vacancy as alderman-at-large.
AURORA, IL — Aurora has begun the process of filling the open alderperson-at-large position after John Laesch was elected the city's 60th mayor.
In his new role, Laesch has the authority to appoint someone to serve the remainder of the unexpired four-year term through the next general municipal election, scheduled for April 2027.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, be a registered voter in Aurora and have lived in the city for at least one year.

Locals interested in the position can complete an online application, which is due by noon on Friday.
Following the submission deadline, the mayor's office will review all applications and conduct interviews with selected candidates.

"This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated resident to help shape Aurora's future as a member of its legislative body," city officials said.
