AURORA, IL — Several road closures are planned through September as Canadian National Railway works to construct additional tracks through portions of Aurora.

The new track will help reduce freight traffic delays and improve vehicular flow by allowing multiple trains to pass each other without having to come to a full stop, city officials said.

The first closure began April 1, with McCoy Drive shutting down at the CN railroad crossing near Frontenac Street. The road is expected to reopen June 27.

More closures are planned on Liberty Street near Commerce Street from June 30 to July 29. Montgomery Road near Normantown Road will also shut down from Aug. 12 to Sept. 10.
