Teen Killed In Shooting On Aurora's East Side: PD

There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public at this time, Aurora police said.

AURORA, IL — A 17-year-old boy died May 19 after he was shot in the 500 block of Metropolitan Street, Aurora police said Thursday night.

The teen was pronounced dead at Rush Copley Medical Center. Officers responded to the scene at 9:33 p.m. and began performing life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital.

Police said the boy's identity was confirmed by the Kane County Coroner's Office, which performed an autopsy May 21 to determine the cause of death, but did not identify him.

An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. Police said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Aurora Police Department's investigations division at 630-256-5500. The organization offers rewards of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest of felony crime offenders and fugitives.
