2 Road Closures Expected For BatFest: Batavia Police
Batavia police shared the closures and routes where congestion is expected during the annual BatFest event preceding Halloween.
BATAVIA, IL — Several temporary roadblocks and traffic interruptions are expected on Oct. 25 in Batavia, the day BatFest returns to the downtown area, police said.
The Halloween-centered event is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Saturday before the spooky holiday, and one of BatFest's beloved activities is the parade, which is set to step off at 10 a.m. at the intersection of North Island Avenue and Houston Street.
The procession will require a complete shutdown of West Wilson Street between Island Avenue and Water Street for about 20 minutes, according to a news release. A full road closure is expected on Houston Street between Island Avenue and Route 31 for the duration of the event.

The parade route will travel south on Island Avenue, then west on Wilson Street, and finally north on Water Street before coming to an end.
Police said drivers should be prepared to encounter increased pedestrian traffic on these streets during BatFest's four-hour runtime: Route 31, Houston Street, Island Avenue, Wilson Street, Water Street, First Street and Shumway Avenue. Many intersections will be staffed with volunteers to help usher drivers and event-goers, police said.
