4th Of July In Batavia: Observation Areas, Road Closures To Know About

Batavia will celebrate Independence Day with the annual Sky Concert at Engstrom Park.

BATAVIA, IL — Independence Day in Batavia means the return of the annual Sky Concert at Engstrom Park. Ahead of the event, Batavia police released information about street closures and best observation areas.

The show will take place on July 4. Locals should use the park and the Batavia High School athletic fields between Main Street and West Wilson Street to watch the fireworks display.

Food vendors will be on-site at Engstrom Park, 326 Millview Drive, beginning at 5 p.m. The show is set to start at 9:30 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.

Alcoholic beverages and dogs are prohibited from all firework observation areas, police said.

Main Street will close to all vehicular traffic between Feece Drive and Pitz Lane once the parking lot at Batavia High School and the handicap lot at Batavia Covenant Church are full, officials said. At that time, traffic will be detoured to Wilson Street.

The following roads will be most impacted by the Fourth of July celebration:

  • Randall Road from Main Street to Fabyan Parkway
  • West Wilson Street and Main Street around Batavia High School
  • Route 31 in the downtown area

All impacted routes will have barricades and detours posted to help drivers navigate the area, police said.
