• Norbert Holtkamp appointed director of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (uchicago.edu) — Batavia’s own Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is getting a new leader, with physicist Norbert Holtkamp taking over as director on Jan. 12, 2026. The 6,800-acre Batavia-based lab says his experience with massive science projects will be key as Fermilab pushes ahead on its landmark neutrino experiments and major modernization efforts.
   

• Wrestling: King Finishes 1st, Lady Leafs 2nd Overall At Pontiac Invite! — Geneseo Current (geneseocurrent.com) — Batavia’s girls wrestling team placed fourth at the Pontiac “Munch” Invitational, with several Batavia athletes figuring into key Geneseo matchups. The Lady Leafs finished second overall, led by Lydia King’s 1st-place run at 120 pounds and multiple strong performances across the lower weight classes.
