ALDI Slashes Prices On 100s of Summer Items At Chicago-Area Stores
ALDI announces plans to lower prices on 250 "summer essential" grocery items totaling $100 million in savings at Chicago-area stores.

BATAVIA, IL – As shoppers continue to get hammered by inflation and sticker shock at the checkout, the Batavia-based ALDI is slashing prices on more than 250 items this summer. The grocer claims the price cuts amount to $100 million in savings to consumers.
According to ALDI, this year’s crop of price cuts will nearly double savings from last year, when the company reduced prices on products to save shoppers more than $60 million.
“ALDI is always looking for ways to help customers save money, but with more experts warning of persistent inflation, the time was right to deliver even greater discounts on our already low prices for the second year in a row,” ALDI US President Dave Rinaldo said. “We don’t want food prices to hold people back from getting together with friends and family or spending time outdoors this season.”

The company is planning to lower prices on more than 250 “summer essentials” at all its stores through Labor Day, including picnic necessities, BBQ essentials, travel-ready snacks and better-for-you foods.
The quarter-cart system, displaying products in boxes they arrive in, smaller store footprint and unique business model enables ALDI to keep everyday prices low, the grocer said. Due to ever rising customer demand, ALDI is planning to add 800 stores across the United States over the next five years.
