Batavia Food Pantry To Host 1st Open House In New Location
The move allows the organization to offer "uninterrupted assistance" to the community while searching for a permanent location.

BATAVIA, IL — It's been less than two months since the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Clothes Closet moved into its new location, and staff is preparing to show it off at its first open house in December.
The open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 4 at the temporary location at 431 N. Raddant Road. The site spans about 8,500 square feet with office and storage space, electrical upgrades to accommodate refrigeration and dock doors for delivery, Patch reported.
The pantry's move allows the organization to offer "uninterrupted assistance" to the community while searching for a permanent location with the support of a $3 million grant secured in January with the help of Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville).

Their previous site at 100 Flinn Street will be demolished as a result of Batavia upgrading its Wastewater Treatment Plant.
“Thanks to help from many different community groups, as well as our outstanding group of volunteers, we were able to make the move to the new location without missing a single service day for our clients," Executive Director Eileen Pasero said in a statement. "We're excited to now bring in all of those who helped, or who have donated through the years, to see what we've created."

During the open house, guests are encouraged to bring shelf-stable food items to donate to help "pack the pantry" for the busy holiday season. Staff will also collect gently used Batavia spirit wear.
