BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Overseas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1197 is set to welcome residents Friday evening for a Sept. 11 memorial tribute to veterans and first responders.

The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Friday, with U.S. Marine veteran Bill Gray set to play a “patriotic playlist” starting at 6 p.m. Gray has played several times in the Batavia VFW’s “Riffs on the Rivers” concert series and is known for his deep country voice, according to a flyer. A memorial reflection will start at 7 p.m.

The Batavia VFW has invited most local police and fire departments to the memorial event. Residents are encouraged to bring chairs, and friendly dogs are welcome, the flyer states.
