Bridge Maintenance Will Impact Sidewalk, Parking Spaces In Batavia

Crews will be doing maintenance on the Donovan Bridge, overlapping with Wilson Street in downtown Batavia.

BATAVIA, IL — Maintenance on the Donovan Bridge that overlaps with Wilson Street in downtown Batavia is scheduled to begin Sept. 5, officials announced.

Work will be completed one side at a time beginning on the north side. Officials did not say what maintenance will be done.

As a result, the sidewalk that takes pedestrians over the Fox River as well as adjacent parking spaces on the side of the bridge being worked on will be closed. Detour signs will be in place to direct pedestrians.

Drivers are encouraged to use one of the municipal parking lots while the bridge spaces are closed.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September, officials said.
