City Of Batavia Website Changes Domains
The change to the .gov website was made to make the domain more secure and harder for malicious actors to impersonate.

BATAVIA, IL — The City of Batavia has changed its website domain to a .gov address, officials announced Thursday.
The change comes following a recommendation from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The agency administered the top-level domain that is more secure and makes it harder for malicious actors to impersonate, officials said.
The city's new official website is www.bataviail.gov. The previous address, www.cityofbatavia.net, will be redirected to the new one.

Changes were also made to city email addresses. All employees and City Council members can be contacted using their usernames, followed by @bataviail.gov. Emails sent to the previous address, @cityofbatavia.net, will still be received during the transition period.
