Cruise Through Europe On Danube River With Batavia Chamber Of Commerce

By climbing aboard the 5-star MS Amadeus Queen, travelers will visit four European countries during their tour on the Danube River.

BATAVIA, IL — Looking to get out of Batavia or maybe the country? One option could be a seven-night cruise visiting four European countries along the Danube River in October.

The Batavia Chamber of Commerce partnered with the West Suburban Chambers Of Commerce Executives group to charter the 5-star MS Amadeus Queen for a European vacation that will depart Oct. 23 and return Nov. 1.

The ship, launched in 2018, is designed to offer guests an "effortless combination of the vibrant energy of a river cruise day with an increasingly calm and intimate ship experience," reads a brochure.

Prices start at $3,949 per person and include roundtrip airfare and a bonus night in Munich, Germany. Prices increase after June 7.

The cruise ship's ports of call include Budapest, Hungary; Bratislava, Slovakia; Vienna, Austria; Melk, Austria; and Linz, Austra.

Here is a look at the trip's itinerary:

  • Day 1: Depart the United States for Munich.
  • Day 2: Spend the day in Munich.
  • Day 3: Tour Munich and drive to Passau, a city founded more than 2,000 years ago.
  • Day 4: Tour Regensburg, a Bavarian city on the Danube River in southeast Germany before returning to Passau.
  • Day 5: Take time to explore Passau before returning aboard the ship to visit Linz, the third-largest city in Austria.
  • Day 6: Visit the Baroque Benedictine Abbey of Melk and travel to Dürnstein before arriving in Vienna.
  • Day 7: Spend the day exploring Vienna.
  • Day 8: Visit Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
  • Day 9: Embark toward Budapest, where travelers will explore the city.
  • Day 10: Return to the United States.
