Energie Salt Studio Spirit Opens In Batavia's Historic Newton House

BATAVIA, IL — Renee Dee lost 140 pounds during a recent spiritual journey through various holistic modalities including meditation. Now, she’s sharing the wisdom she acquired during her own experience overcoming a lengthy period of unalignment.

“I have completely transformed every aspect of my life,” she said. “And I set my intentions on opening a business with the sole intent of helping others.”

Dee has partnered with Lisa Edwards to create Energie, which offers such healing methods as private salt suite sessions, energy healing sessions in the salt suite and a wide array of classes and special events.

“We’ve come here from a desire to help people,” Renee said. “While in a mental health crisis it’s hard for people to find resources and to improve their mental health. We offer classes and modalities so you not only find alternative healing modalities but also find each other and help empower each other.”

Energie Salt Studio Spirit is having its grand opening on June 1-4. The following are the events planned:

Thursday, June 1

• Ribbon cutting celebration with Batavia Chamber of Commerce and Mayor of Batavia, 4-6 p.m.
• Full Moon Release Meditation and Workshop, 6-7 p.m. $30 RSVP (includes free chocolate-covered strawberries to celebrate the strawberry moon)

Friday, June 2

• Happy Hour Open Salt Suite, 4-5 p.m.
• Intro to Law of Attraction with Kristi Niedzwiecki, 5-6 p.m.
• Sound Journeys with Andre Perazza, 7-8 p.m. $30 RSVP

Saturday, June 3

• Energie at Batavia Farmers Market, 9-noon
• Newton House Open House, 12-2 p.m.
• Healing with Holistic Hemp with Dr. Katrena Caeti, 2-3 p.m.
• Creating Good Vibes at Home with Heather Schmidt, 3-4 p.m.
• Whale Breathing with Mary Rondenet, 4-6 p.m. RSVP

Sunday, June 4

• Plant-based Continental Breakfast and Book Reading, 11-noon.
• Coffee and Cream: Learn how to make plant-based cream, 12-1 p.m.
• Readings and Consultations, Tarot and Medium, 1-4 p.m. ($20 for 20 minutes), RSVP
• Painting Party: Create a Mandala Canvas with Angel Staub, 4-6 p.m. $40 RSVP

The benefits of salt therapy are wide-ranging and date as far back as medieval times when monks guided the sick into salt caves to allow them to breathe air saturated with salt particles. Salt levels have been proven to affect one’s cell activity, energy and blood sugar levels.

Energie offers its salt suite retreats for individuals or small groups of two to four people. In addition, Energie offers the unique experience of Reiki Energy Healing Therapy in its salt suite as well as breathwork and meditation classes.

Customized packages for you and friends (2-5 people max) include Salt Suite Session with add-ons that include extra time in studio space with refreshments, small meals, Group Reiki, Sound Healing, Light Therapy, as well as Meditation workshops, Law of Attraction workshops and more.

“You bring the party,” Renee said. “And we’ll provide the resources!”

Energie Salt Studio Spirit is also the perfect small event space for corporate, weddings, parties, meet-up groups and more. Various free and fee-based events will be scheduled throughout the year to educate and inspire.

Renee acknowledged that her post-breakdown awakening during COVID-19 was the primary reason she left her career as a realtor to begin working on herself and inspire others. Her transition has been nothing short of amazing. Her drive to help others duplicate her journey, though, is what truly defines her today. Renee now works as an Empowerment Mentor and helps her clients discover different perspectives and insights, helping them create a life they cherish so that they may live it to the fullest.

“So many people are struggling,” she said. “We want to be a part of their awakening process and catapult them into healing mode. Once you begin suffering it becomes a part of your lifestyle. We work with you to begin healing, a lifelong work in progress.”

While the Energie team doesn’t believe in coincidences, there’s no denying that Renee has been advocating for others to find joy and happiness in their lives while treating others how they’d like to be treated for a long time now. About 10 years ago, she co-organized the Kindness Campaign within the Kaneland school district to remind people to be kind to themselves, others and the environment. In a way, Energie is an extension of her promotion of random acts of kindness within the schools, which was getting students, their families and friends to add kindness into their lives and the lives of others. Today, she’s promoting spirituality at Energie.

“We want to make spirituality mainstream so everyone has it in their lives,” she said. “It’s healing from the inside out at Energie. We are hoping to be the beacon of light for other lightworkers during a time when healing is so necessary.”

And while no one believes in coincidences at Energie, something has to be said about its name as well as its comfy, welcoming home in the Newton House in Batavia," continued Renee. "And did you know that Batavia is the City of Energy? And this building, the Newton House, was built in 1878. This room is where the librarian was housed and where wisdom lies. This space was warmed up for us.”
