Expect 'Significant' Traffic Delays During Batavia High School Homecoming Parade: PD

The parade will follow the same route as previous years to help alleviate road closures in downtown Batavia, police said.

BATAVIA, IL — Batavia High School is celebrating its homecoming with a parade Sept. 10, and police are warning residents to expect "significant" traffic delays.

Stepping off at 5 p.m., the parade will head east on West Wilson Street to Lincoln Street, travel south to Main Street, and go west before returning to the high school's Main Street lot. Similar to previous years, the route helps alleviate road closures in downtown Batavia.

Traffic on West Wilson Street and Main Street, west of Route 31, will be detoured since sections of both roads will temporarily close. Drivers will be directed to use McKee Street or Fabyan Parkway to the north or Route 56 in North Aurora to the south. Traffic needing to get to Randall Road from downtown Batavia will also be directed to use McKee Street or Fabyan Parkway.

Parade units will stage between 4-4:45 p.m. at the Batavia High School Wilson Street parking lot.

Spectators should plan to watch on the sidewalks and grassy areas along the route. The parade is expected to last about one hour. Roads will reopen by 6:15 p.m., police said.
