Gas Price Update: Batavia Gas More Than $1 Cheaper Than Last Year

The average price for a gallon of gas in Kane County was $4.22 as of Thursday.

BATAVIA, IL — Although the average price for a gallon of gas has increased slightly in the last month, prices are significantly lower than a year ago, according to data.

At around $4.22 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were above the state average, coming in at $4.02 Thursday — that's down 2 cents from a week ago and up 10 cents from a month ago, AAA data shows.

A year ago, the average cost for a gallon of gas in Illinois cost $5.40.

"We may be in a bit of a demand lull heading into the July Fourth holiday," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in a statement. "Drivers are benefitting financially, with 20 gallons of gas costing nearly $30 less than last year. And with the cost for oil low, drivers will find pump prices that are flat or drifting slightly lower for now."

Nationally, the price per gallon of gas was going for an average of $3.58 Thursday.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Batavia is selling for $4.09 per gallon at Walmart, 885 N. Randall Road. Here is what other stations around town are charging:

  • Feece Oil Co., 1700 Hubbard Ave.: $4.19 per gallon
  • Casey's, 2074 Main St.: $4.25 per gallon
  • BP, 200 N. Randall Road: $4.25 per gallon
  • Mobil, 710 E. Fabyan Parkway: $4.25 per gallon
  • Mobil, 27 N. Batavia Ave.: $4.25 per gallon
