Gas Price Update: See Cost Of A Gallon In Batavia Ahead Of Labor Day

With Labor Day coming up, gas demand and volatile oil prices could limit how much gas prices dip in the coming weeks, according to AAA.

BATAVIA, IL — Labor Day is approaching, which means plenty of Batavia residents are planning to hit the road for one last summer outing.

With road trips, the cost of gas is always something to consider.

At around $4.21 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were above the state average, coming in at $4.07 Tuesday — up 9 cents from a month ago, AAA data show.

With Labor Day coming up Sept. 4, gas demand and volatile oil prices, coupled with an active hurricane season, could limit how much gas prices dip in the coming weeks, according to AAA.

"Although the national average did a U-turn this week, the road ahead could lead to higher prices," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in a statement. "Ongoing concerns regarding potential storm activity could hinder falling pump prices this fall."

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Batavia is selling for $4.07 per gallon at Walmart, 885 N. Randall Road. Here is what other stations around town are charging:

  • Mobil, 27 N. Batavia Ave.: $4.19 per gallon
  • BP, 200 N. Randall Road.: $4.25 per gallon
  • Casey's, 2074 Main St.: $4.25 per gallon
  • Shell, 164 S. Randall Road: $4.25 per gallon
  • Speedway, 1495 E. Wilson St.: $4.29 per gallon
