North River Street One-Way Conversion Is In The Final Stages
One of the reasons for the change is it will now allow the city to close North River Street without a permit from IDOT, officials said.

BATAVIA, IL — Starting this fall, North River Street will no longer be a two-way street.
The intersection with Wilson Street closed Thursday as construction to transform the street into a southbound one-way between State and Wilson streets enters its final stages. Work, expected to last three weeks, will prohibit cars from turning right from River Street onto Wilson Street.
Construction includes removing and replacing the concrete sidewalk, curb and bricks at the intersection. New crosswalks and pedestrian crossing signs will also be installed as part of the project.

The intersection has been impacted for several months now. Drivers taking westbound Wilson Street haven't been able to make a northbound turn onto River Street since the City Council voted on the street conversion in the spring.
One of the reasons for the change is it will now allow the city to close North River Street without a permit from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Patch reported.
The intersection closure will not affect the Batavia Farmers Market.
