• A 23-Year-Old's Seizures Broke His Spine. A Stem Cell Implant Into His Brain Stopped Them. (menshealth.com) — A 23-year-old Batavia resident with severe epilepsy has become seizure-free after receiving an experimental stem cell implant to his brain at UChicago Medicine, dramatically improving his daily life and independence. The procedure, still in clinical trials, targets overactive neurons using GABA-producing cells and could eventually help others with hard-to-treat seizure disorders and related neurological conditions.
