Scholarships Awarded To High School Students By Covenant Living at the Holmstad

BATAVIA, IL — The resident association of Covenant Living at the Holmstad recently awarded scholarships to six of the graduating seniors employed at the senior living community in Batavia. The major source of scholarship funds is proceeds from the sale of merchandise at the community’s annual Bazaar held each fall. Recipients of the scholarships submitted applications detailing their work experience, school and community involvement, and future goals. Each of the six students was awarded $1,250 to be used for continuing their education.

“As residents of the Holmstad we see these young students every day and seeing them move on to pursue their education is really exciting,” said Sue Gately, scholarship committee chair. “They make us so proud and we feel blessed to provide them some assistance with the higher education expenses.”

Those receiving scholarships in 2024 include students from the following schools:

Rachel Rempert graduated from Batavia High School and will attend Loyola University, Chicago. She plans to major in Criminal Justice and minor in psychology.

Abigail Lieb graduated from Batavia High School in December 2923. She will be majoring in Fashion Design and Merchandising at Northern Illinois University.

Ciera Prince also is a graduate of Batavia High School and will attend Waubonsee Community College. Ciera hopes to become a therapist.

Emmett Legan graduated from Batavia High School where he was enrolled in dual enrollment classes at Waubonsee Community College. He plans to continue his studies at the college.

Natalie Lycan graduated from Kaneland High School. She plans to attend the University of Illinois and major in Graphic Design. She has excelled in Advanced Graphic Design classes her senior year in High School.

Rebecca Schulenberg graduated from Wheaton Academy. She will be playing on the Girl’s Soccer Team at Cedarville University in Ohio. Her career choices are Sports Medicine and Elementary Education.
