19-Year-Old Man Charged In Beverly Rolls-Royce Carjacking

The 19-year-old man was identified as the person who took a Rolls-Royce at gunpoint from an elderly woman in her driveway, police said.

CHICAGO — A convicted felon on parole for a gun offense is charged in the vehicular hijacking of an elderly woman at gunpoint in Beverly. Trevon Robinson, 19, of Chicago, is facing a felony charge of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm.

Police said Robinson was identified as the person who, late afternoon June 27, took a Rolls-Royce at gunpoint from an 83-year-old woman in the 9100 block of South Hoyne Avenue. The woman was not hurt. Robinson was taken into custody Wednesday in the 4700 block of South Ashland Avenue by the Chicago Police Vehicular Hijacking Task Force.

Robinson is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he had been serving an 18-month sentence for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

He appeared Thursday for a pretrial hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building where he was denied pretrial release. Robinson is currently in custody at Cook County Jail. His next hearing will be July 9 at Branch 38.

"I would like to thank the Chicago Police Department and Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in getting this habitual gun offender off the street," Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) said in a statement.
