MERRIONETTE PARK, IL — Five ducklings were rescued from a sewer in Merrionette Park on Memorial Day. Police and fire units were able to reunite the little ones with their mother after they noticed the situation unfolding in a parking lot in the village.
Fire Lieutenant Lashaun Alston and Officer Knight from the Merrionette Park Police Department removed the sewer lid and rescued the ducklings that were trapped in the sewer, according to a statement from the Merrionette Park Fire Department.
When the sewer lid was removed, the mother duck came from behind the brush and the ducklings followed her to safety.
