Accused Fondler to Be Arraigned This Friday
Community leaders are urging residents to attend Daniel Vorberg's court date this Friday.

The Oak Lawn man accused of exposing and fondling himself in a parked car near a school in Mt. Greenwood will appear in court on Friday, June 21 to be arraigned.
Daniel Vorberg, 30, of the 5000 block of 101st Street in Oak Lawn, was observed "fondling and exposing himself" around 4 p.m. on April 30 while sitting in the parked car just down the block from Cassell Elementary School, police said at the time.

He was charged with two felony counts of public indecency. He is expected to appear at 10 a.m. in Room 107 of the Bridgeview Courthouse. Ald. Matt O'Shea sent out an e-blast to 19th Ward residents asking them to show up for the arraignment as a sign of neighborhood solidarity.
"This court date is the best opportunity for our community to take part in this process," O'Shea wrote. "Please join me on Friday and make our voices heard, this behavior will not be tolerated in our community."
As Patch previously reported, Vorberg is no stranger to the court room.
Charged that were dismissed over the last decade include retail theft, disorderly conduct, battery, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Vorberg spent six months on court supervision for reckless driving as the result of a 2004 charge, and similarly for retail theft in 2006.
Vorberg was charged with distributing harmful materials to a minor in 2008, but the charges were dropped when the witness did not show up in court.

He was also charged with three felony counts of child abduction and disorderly conduct when he he allegedly attempted to lure three 11-year-old girls into his SUV in October 2009.
He was identified by his oldest victim and spent the next 18 months in Cook County Jail awaiting trial when he could not make the $280,000 bail.

His first trial on those charges ended in a hung jury in 2010. He was then acquitted of the charges by a jury in a re-trial the following March.
Then in October 2011 he was charged with battery and retail theft after an incident at the Tinley Park Menards.
He was on court supervision for those charges when he was arrested for public indecency in Mt. Greenwood.
