Beverly Arts Center Honors Champions of the Arts, Saturday, March 4th
Patricia Haynes, Joyce and Melvin Black, Beverly Area Arts Alliance, and Denise Powell to be recognized for their contributions
February 13 - The Beverly Arts Center enthusiastically announces the first of four "un-gala" events, Saturday, March 4th at 7:30pm.
The first of these "un-gala" events, titled Bold Voices/Bold Women, will provide the opportunity for the Arts Center to honor a group of community members who have championed the arts and arts education on the South Side. The evening is also a celebration of Women's History Month and will include a staged-production of V's (formerly Eve Ensler's) the Vagina Monologues. Funds raised by the event will support BAC programs that benefit women and girls.
The evening's honorees include the Beverly Arts Center's former Interim Executive Director, Mrs. Denise Powell, who will be recognized for her leadership, community arts organization the Beverly Area Arts Alliance, philanthropists Mrs. Joyce and Mr. Melvin Black, and Mrs. Patricia Haynes, a mainstay of South Side Theater at both 99th Street Theater and Mother McAuley.

Beverly Arts Center's new Managing Director Dr. Carla Carter who is serving as director of the evening's performance of the Vagina Monologues shared, "the Vagina Monologues continues to be a catalyst for presenting issues of injustice that affect many women and girls. The piece celebrates and honors the experience of women and girls through the presentation of spoken word, dance, music and song."
Tickets for this "un-gala" fundraiser are priced at $50 for general admission, and $75 for VIP priority seating. VIP admission also includes access to a pre-reception and post-performance celebration.
