Dozens of signatures had already been gathered Monday afternoon at Cassell Elementary School in Mount Greenwood.

Parents are streaming through the doors to show their opposition to the proposed CPS budget cuts that have hit many 19th Ward schools.
"A strong public school is what leads to a strong community," said Courtney Sinisi, a parent and member of Cassell's local school council.
The petitions were available to sign at the school, 11314 S. Spaulding, until 7 p.m on Monday, July 15 for both Cassell parents and all 19th Ward residents.
Copies of the petition will be delivered to a host of local elected officials.
