CHICAGO — Mother McAuley High School’s intergenerational collaborative, Macs With Mercy, met with their friends at Mercy Circle one last time in the 2024-2025 school year, before students donned their white organza graduation gowns.

Macs with Mercy, was established in 2022 by 19th Ward Alderman Matt O’Shea, as a way to bring together generations. During this past school year, McAuley students and Mercy Circle residents have gotten together to make over 500 handmade gifts for neighbors served by Pat’s Pantry in Mt. Greenwood Community Church.

“This community outreach program reflects how our neighborhoods are filled with two and three generations of families,” O’Shea said. “It was great to hear everyone who gathered also share their personal plans for the summer.”
