Mail Trucks Among Cars Targeted In Daytime Thefts

Four separate theft from vehicle reports were taken by police from April 12 to April 17 in the Morgan Park neighborhood.

CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating a string of "theft from vehicle" incidents in the Morgan Park neighborhood. Four incidents were reported from April 12 to April 19, according to a community alert shared by police.

Two of the incidents involved parked United States Postal Service trucks being entered while employees are out delivering mail, the alert says. Two other vehicles had also been targeted, according to police.

The first incident was reported in the 11500 block of South Maplewood Avenue on April 12, the next on April 15 in the 2100 block of West 115th Street, a third sometime between April 15 and April 19 in the 2400 block of West 114th Street and another on April 17 in the 11600 block of South Bell Avenue.

The only suspect description provided by police is that it is two African-American men wearing construction vests committing the thefts.
