CHICAGO — After a lot of hard work, patience, and time, the Marist High School Band will be touring and performing in Central Europe in Spring of 2027, when Marist High School and the Marist band will embark on their first trip to Austria, Germany, and Czech Republic.
For over 60 years, the Marist High School Band has been a staple in the Chicagoland community. Founded by Frank Manna in 1963, the Marist Band has truly lived up to its tradition of bringing “honor, glory, and fame” to Marist High School. The internationally famed band tours every year and has performed at various college bowl games, festivals, parades, events, and concert tours. Notable performances have been the Rose Bowl Parade, St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, the National Vietnam Veteran’s Day Parade and Ceremonies in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The band also appeared on the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, Chicago White Sox opening day, and performances at Disney Worlds. The Marist band also appears in local parades, including the South Side Irish Parade. The current band director is Andrew Creagh and is assisted by Patrick Keelan.

“After the band’s successful performances in Hawaii, we feel that it is a wonderful time to seize this opportunity to continue to travel and perform in new places,” Creagh said in a news release. “In Central Europe, the band will be performing at a series of public concerts, touring the locations where the 'Sound of Music' was filmed, visiting Mozart’s birthplace, exploring Prague and Salzburg, and visiting many historical churches and castles.”
Incoming freshmen or current Marist students are invited to join the band and take part in the historic band tour. No previous music experience is necessary. If you are interested in joining the Marist Band, please e-mail Andrew Creagh at creagh.andrew@marist.net for more information.
