Egan’s mission to help others was spurred in part by the loss of her father, Brian Egan, whom she calls the “original foodie.”
“I lost my dad when I was 17 to a battle with cancer,” said Egan. “I know my dad would be proud that I aligned my career with my passion for food.
“Food is such a powerful and healing tool. Food is cultural, emotional, social, and personal. For me, in my work, it's all about restoring joy in food, removing restrictions, fears, overwhelmed scenarios and the confusion caused by conflicting information and opinions.
“My hope is that the health expo and my newsletter offers a nugget or two to enrich people’s connection with food. I firmly believe in food's profound ability to prevent disease, which is why I'm committed to dedicating my life to helping others improve their relationship with it.”
Organizers are transforming Ridge Park into “a vibrant health-and-wellness hub.”
The Community Health Expo is now a staple in the Beverly/Morgan Park area, benefitting hundreds of residents eager to explore ways to improve their health and well being.
Last year’s event at Morgan Park Academy was a massive success, showcasing more than 30 local health and fitness businesses and drawing approximately 200 attendees. The 2025 Expo is poised to surpass those numbers with even more activities, discussions and opportunities for the community to engage in holistic health practices.
Attendees can look forward to an exciting lineup of panel discussions featuring nutrition, health and wellness experts. Discussions will delve into nutrition science, exploring juicing, fasting, gut health and debunking popular food myths.
Additional discussions will focus on overall health and wellness, tackling crucial subjects such as mental health, menopause, per menopause, sexual wellness and pain management. The event will also highlight senior health, ensuring something for everyone, regardless of age or stage of life.
The expo will also feature: lively cardio dance classes, interactive demonstrations and opportunities to connect with wellness gurus who can help visitors take the best steps in their health journey.
Local businesses will showcase healthful food and beverage tastings, merchandise and expert advice, allowing attendees to sample the best Beverly/Morgan Park and Mt. Greenwood offers.
