CHICAGO — The plight of another deer at St. Casimir Cemetery on 111th Street has once again gripped the surrounding community. Last month, Patch wrote about Special, a popular cemetery deer with a crooked antler who left St. Casimir and freaked out the neighborhood while on a walkabout around the Southwest Side of Chicago.

This time, a baby buck has gotten his head stuck inside an empty gallon-sized cheeseball jug. Neighborhood social media groups are blowing up with pleas to help the little deer.

A deer whisperer source at the cemetery who asked not to be named said a woman hired two professional Mexican ropers. The ropers spent about 2-and-a-half hours Thursday at St. Casimir, until the woman told them just to go home.

“It has been out of control. We had 100 cars coming through here yesterday,” the deer whisperer source told Patch. “We are aware of it.”

Apparently, the baby buck’s horns went up into the cheeseball jug that someone tossed out a window and got stuck.

“They’re like little kids. They’re curious about things,” the deer whisperer source said.

In addition to the professional Mexican ropers, Chicago Animal Care and Control has also been out to St. Casimir to find the baby buck.

“But you can’t catch a deer,” the deer whisperer source explained.

A heartbreaking video of the poor little buck trying to knock the cheeseball jug off by hitting his head against a post has also emerged in the neighborhood Facebook groups.

Big-hearted Chicago police officers have also stopped by St. Casimir to offer their help. The baby buck has had his head stuck in jug since Monday.

“He hasn’t had any food or water since then,” the deer whisperer source told Patch.

As of Friday, animal control officers were waiting for a supervisor to come out with a tranquilizer gun to shoot the little buck and free him of the cheeseball jug. Patch will keep you posted. Oh, and Special is okay.
