Report: CPS CEO Brizard Out After 17 Months on Job
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Chicago Public Schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard is out by "mutual decision."

The Chicago Sun-Times in a report by Fran Spielman reports that Chicago Public Schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard is leaving his position after a "mutual agreement" with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Spielman reports that the messy contract negotiations and ultimate strike lead to his departure:
"Brizard was Emanuel’s pick to lead CPS and push through the mayor’s aggressive education agenda. But with the city’s first teachers strike in 25 years in the rear view mirror and a new contract to be implemented, Emanuel said it’s “time for a clean break.”

Barbara Byrd-Bennett will be named as Brizard's replacement, the report says. She was the former CEO of Cleveland public schools and is currently serving as the interim chief education officer for CPS.
