Save The Date For 2025 'Get Behind The Vest Pancake Breakfast'
Ald. Matt O'Shea's annual "Get Behind the Vest Pancake Breakfast" will take place Sunday, Feb. 23 at St. John Fisher Kane Hall.
CHICAGO — Ald. Matt O’Shea’s annual Get Behind the Vest Pancake Breakfast has been set for Sunday, Feb. 23. The event that has raised over a half-million dollar for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s vest replacement program for Chicago police officers.
Flapjacks will be flipped from 8 a.m. to noon at St. John Fisher Kane Hall, 10200 S. Washtenaw Ave., Chicago.
When Chicago police officers hired, they receive a new bulletproof vest. However, after five years, vests become worn and begin breaking down. Officers must pay for replacement vests, which run about $600.

The CPMF has paid out more than $58 million to purchase over 13,500 replacement vests for Chicago police officers, with 991 vests supplied in 2024. The foundation expects to provide at least 1,000 vests in 2025.
