East Side residents are still fuming over border patrol agents, who rammed a car they were pursuing last month at 105th Street and Avenue N, resulting in a tense standoff with neighbors. As Chicago police investigated the accident and tried to de-escalate the situation, residents are alleged to have thrown objects at the federal agents, at which point federal agencts deployed tear gas, according to news reports.

“A few weeks ago ICE attacked and tried to terrorize folks at 105th Street and Avenue N,” Southsiders for Peace said in a statement. “But people fought back and held their ground against the racist thugs.”
