CHICAGO — Visitation and services are set for Chicago Police Officer Areanah Makayla Preston, who was killed in the line of duty on May 6. The young officer was shot to death in the line of duty outside her home during a robbery.

Visitation for the fallen police officer will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. A funeral service will begin on Wednesday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 400 W. 95th St., Chicago.

Residential parking and traffic will be impacted on 103rd Street between Cicero and Kostner Avenue during Tuesday's visitation for Officer Preston at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home.

Following in the procession route from the funeral home to Trinity United Church of Christ for the 10 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday:

- The procession will depart from Blake-Lamb, 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue around 9 a.m., heading east on 103rd Street to Western Avenue.

- South on Western Avenue to 95th Street

- East on 95th Street to Lowe Avenue

- North on Lowe Avenue to 93rd Street to Eggleston

- South on Eggleston to Trinity United Church of Christ

Expect rolling street closures during Wednesday's procession.

The 24-year-old police officer was due to receive her master’s degree from Loyola University on Saturday. Officer Preston’s mother accepted her late daughter’s diploma during a graduation ceremony.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has also ordered U.S., city and state flags at government buildings to be flown at half staff from sunrise to sundown through May 17.
