BHS Student is National Merit Finalist
Winners of Merit Scholarship awards are chosen from the finalist group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.

senior Carlos Jimenez has been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.
The son of Carlos and Erin Jimenez, Carlos plans on going into the engineering field and is considering attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Carnegie Mellon or Cornell.

Carlos is one of only 15,000 students to be selected for the prestigious honor from among 1.5 million students nationwide who took the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last spring.

Roughly half of those who are Merit Finalists will receive either a $2,500 scholarship, a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship Award, or a college-sponsored Merit Scholarship Award. The awards are given based on ability, skills and accomplishments utilizing academic records, test scores, written recommendations and an essay prepared by the Finalist.
The non-profit National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) oversees the National Merit program.
