BHS to Hold College And Career Fair For Upper Classmen

More than a dozen colleges, a full array of military representatives, and spokespeople for nearly two dozen trade groups and careers will be on hand for the visits.

With an eye on helping students prepare for life after high school, Bolingbrook High School will hold its first ever College, Trade and Career Fair for juniors and seniors March 1.

More than a dozen colleges, a full array of military representatives, and spokespeople for nearly two dozen trade groups and careers will be on hand for the visits which will take place from mid morning into early afternoon.

“We want to provide our students with an opportunity to explore all of the options available to them,” said Allison Ondracek, one of the organizers of the event. “By educating our students about future careers, we hope to develop a partnership with the various business sectors in Illinois so we can play our part in helping improve our state’s economy.”

Among colleges scheduled to attend: Eastern, Western, Southern and Northern Illinois universities, St. Francis, St. Xavier, Rasmussen, North Central, Columbia, Joliet Junior College, College of DuPage and DeVry.

Technical and career school advice will be available from such organizations as DiTrolio Flexographic Institute, Kendall College, Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School, Regency, Royal Image Barber College, Stars Academy School of Phlebotomy, Tricoci University, Universal Technical Institute, and Vet Tech at Fox College.

Experts in carpentry, drywall finishing, heating and air conditioning and various other laborers will be available including representatives of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders and Blacksmiths Local #1 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #176.

Culinary school representatives from both Robert Morris and Joliet Junior College will be in attendance as well as representatives from JJC’s fine arts and interior design program.

Also on hand will be representatives if the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard.
